National Law University, Delhi has released a notification on January 20, 2025 stating that all the seats for BA LLB (Hons.) and LLM programmes have been filled after two rounds of AILET 2025 Counseling. The third AILET 2025 merit list, scheduled to be published on January 23, is now delayed. The third round of AILET 2025 counselling will be conducted after May 15, 2025, if any seats are left vacant after shortlisted candidates withdraw admissions.
The main points in the AILET 2025 counselling notification released on January 20, 2025, are summarised below:
All BA LLB (Hons.) and LLM seats have been filled by candidates shortlisted from two AILET merit lists.
Only Foreign Nationals seats are left vacant.
The last date for applying for admissions under the Foreign Nationals Category is April 30, 2025.
The merit list for the Foreign Nationals Category will be published only after class 12 results for CBSE/ICSE have been declared.
The third AILET 2025 merit list will be published tentatively after May 15, 2025 only if seats remain vacant after withdrawal of admissions by allotted candidates.
The candidates who have been included in the AILET 2025 counselling invitees list and are now on the waiting list have to wait till May 2025 to know about their admission status. Such candidates can also opt for admission through CLAT 2025 counselling as per their rank. However, due to ongoing CLAT 2025 court cases, the Consortium of National Law Universities has also delayed the publication of the CLAT 2025 merit list and postponed the counseling indefinitely.
The links in the table below provide the list of top law entrance exams that candidates can look forward to, which are good alternatives for CLAT and AILET. Some colleges also offer law admissions without entrance exams.
