While there are several law entrance exams, candidates can get law admission without entrance exams as well. The entrance exam is not always compulsory for law admissions and this direct route is a popular option among students. Now that popular law entrance exams such as CLAT, AILET and SLAT are already done, there are several law colleges without entrance exams that a candidate can aim for. In law admissions without entrance exams, the candidates are admitted based on the marks obtained by them in the qualifying exam.
Candidates are advised that the Bar Council of India does not charge any fees to raise objections.

Law college admissions without an entrance exam save the candidates from having to prepare for the syllabus of law entrance exams. Instead, they can focus only on performing better in their qualifying exams. Candidates can get law admission into 3-year LLB without an entrance exam, as well as in 5-year LLB and LLM programmes.
As is evident from the name, in the LLB admissions without entrance exam, candidates will not be required to appear in an entrance exam. Law colleges without entrance exams usually follow the admission process outlined below -
The eligibility criteria for LLB admission without an entrance exam and LLM admission without an entrance exam are similar to the eligibility criteria for admission through law entrance exams. The only difference between the two is that candidates have to appear for a law entrance exam after fulfilling the eligibility criteria. Candidates must have passed 10+2 and graduated for admission into 5-year LLB and 3-year LLB programmes. Law graduates are eligible for admission into LLM programmes.
The minimum passing marks required may vary from one college to another. Usually, there is no upper age limit for law admission without an entrance exam. Candidates are however advised to check the eligibility criteria for law college admission without an entrance exam with the respective college in which they wish to apply.

Having laid out the advantages, candidates must also keep in mind that several top law colleges in India conduct their law admissions through an entrance exam. Participating National Law Universities admit students through the Common Law Admission Test. While another top ranked law school, NLU Delhi conducts the All India Law Entrance Test. Symbiosis International University conducts SLAT and SLS AIAT. Candidates must decide after evaluating the pros and cons of both.
