CLAT cut-off marks are the minimum marks required for admission to national law universities (NLUs). They vary for each NLU depending on student preferences, rank, availability of seats and several other factors. Tier 1 NLUs — NLSIU, NALSAR, WBNUJS and NLU Jodhpur have higher cut-offs than the remaining NLUs. Most of the tier 1 NLUs close admission at around 95-100 marks for the all-India general category. Tier 2 NLUs have slightly lower cut-offs, in the range of 90-95 marks. Read the complete article for NLU-wise expected CLAT cut-off marks, corresponding ranks and previous trends.
CLAT 2026 does not have a fixed passing marks criterion; admission to National Law Universities is based on the candidate’s rank in the merit list, which depends on their exam score, the number of applicants, seat availability, and category. The official cut-off marks and merit list will be released after evaluation, determining the scores required to secure admission.
A good score in CLAT UG 2026 is expected to be around 90–100+ marks for the general category. SC/ST candidates may need around 75+ marks. The expected cut off for CLAT PG 2026 is 71+ which is equivalent to a 100+ rank. These are good scores for CLAT to get into the top NLUs.
