    CLAT English Language - Skills Tested

    The CLAT 2027 English Language section will test candidates on their ability to read passages, draw inferences & conclusions, summarise passages, recognise tone and argument, and understand the context and meaning of words, etc. Candidates will be provided passages of around 450 words each where these skills will be tested in form of several multiple-choice questions.     Here are some subject-specific preparation tips for CLAT English Language:

    • Develop a daily reading routine: Reading is the most important skill required for acing this section. Candidates must make sure they develop a habit of reading editorials from The Hindu and other newspapers daily.

    • Timed passage practice: Timing is key in the English Language section of CLAT. Candidates must time how much time they take to read and understand a passage, and also time take to answer MCQs.

    • Practice subject-specific mock tests: To get a deeper understanding of this section and the types of questions, candidates must practice English Language mock tests specifically. Solving more and more of these will give candidates a better grasp of this section.
