With an expert committee already framed to review how the CLAT 2027 exam will be conducted, there are high chances of a major overhaul in the exam. Below are three major changes in the CLAT 2027 exam:
Candidates must not expect any major changes in the exam, as the CLAT 2027 exam is only a few months away now. The Consortium of NLUs will likely not announce any major changes in the exam pattern. Making changes in the CLAT 2027 exam pattern would invite backlash or litigation from students, as the preparation time is less than a year now. However, candidates can expect some clearer sectional intent as in the type of question framing might change.
The Expert Committee has invited suggestions on the CLAT 2027 syllabus. However, candidates should not expect big changes in the CLAT syllabus. The CLAT syllabus 2027 might be tightened a bit, with clearer specifications of the topics that will be asked. The Supreme Court had also questioned the Consortium, terming their questions “ambiguous.” The Consortium will instead focus on presenting the paper in a better manner. Also, questions will be framed only from the prescribed syllabus, as some questions were reported to be out of it.
Last year, the Supreme Court bashed the Consortium of NLUs for framing questions in a “casual manner”. The bench even proposed creating a permanent framework like NEET, JEE, etc., to conduct the CLAT exam. Also, the Consortium's decisions were legally challenged and eventually overturned. This year around, the Consortium of NLUs will look to set a paper considering the legality of questions. Also, there were many changes made in the final answer key and provisional key of the CLAT 2026 exam. So, the Consortium will definitely look to set a question paper with fewer or no errors this time.
