Among the MH CET Law 2026 top law colleges, the BBA LLB programme recorded the highest seat uptake, followed by 5-year BA LLB and 3-year LLB. The vacant seats will be important for candidates looking at MH CET Law cap round 2, particularly those seeking betterment after their round 1 allotment. Candidates who have already secured a seat should also check their freeze or betterment status before making changes to their preferences. Those without an allotment can use the vacancy data to identify realistic options, subject to their merit and category.

What Vacancies in Law Colleges Mean for MH CET Law Round 2 Candidates

The vacant seat data can give candidates more options in MH CET Law round 2, though it does not guarantee a major drop in the cutoff. The following factors should be taken into account by the candidates:

    • Round 2 merit: A candidate's relative merit position remains an important factor in the MH CET 3-year allotment or MH CET 5-year LLB allotment.

    • Category and seat type: Vacancies are linked to specific categories. A vacant MS, OMS or minority seat cannot be treated as an open seat for every candidate.

    • Choice filling: Candidates should place colleges according to their actual preference while considering their percentile and previous closing cutoffs.

    • Competition: Popular colleges such as GLC Mumbai can continue to attract candidates with high percentiles, even when seats remain vacant after round 1.

    • Seat availability: Vacant seats can change during the counselling process as candidates accept seats, seek betterment or even leave the admission process.

For example, GLC Mumbai has 101 vacant seats in 3-year LLB, but this does not mean it will see a drastic drop in its round 2 closing percentile. The college will continue to attract candidates with high percentiles, and for the remaining seats, competition can remain strong.

Similarly, Jitendra Chauhan College of Law has 228 vacant seats, but a large part of this vacancy is linked to minority and specific seat categories. Therefore, candidates should not assume that all 228 seats are available through open merit.
