NLU Placements 2026: Median and Highest Salaries, Placement Percentage
The National Law Universities are renowned for their placement packages. NLSIU Bengaluru, WBNUJS Kolkata, NALSAR Hyderabad, etc. have median packages above Rs 15 LPA. The NIRF 2026 Law rankings will be published shortly, but most of the NLUs have already submitted their placement data. Among all NLUs, WBNUJS Kolkata tops the median salary with Rs 20 LPA, followed by NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad at Rs 19 LPA and Rs 18 LPA. Talking of placement percentage, NALSAR Hyderabad, CNLU Patna and NUSRL Ranchi recorded 100% placements.
NLU Placements 2026 - NIRF Data
Most of the NLUs have published their placement and other data for NIRF 2026 law rankings. The latest figures in these rankings are from the academic year 2024-25. NALSAR Hyderabad placed the most number of candidates, with 115 students out of 135 getting offers. Meanwhile, 20 students at the law school opted for higher studies. NLSIU Bengaluru saw 83 placements, whereas WBNUJS Kolkata was the close second to NALSAR Hyderabad with 111 placements. The table below shows the placement figures for NLUs.

NLUs Median Salaries and Placement Percentages 2026
Talking of the highest median salary, WBNUJS Kolkata beats everyone with Rs 20 LPA, followed by NLSIU Bengaluru at Rs 19 LPA, and NALSAR Hyderabad at Rs 18 LPA. Surprisingly, HNLU Raipur has shown massive improvement with its Rs 16.5 LPA median salary, beating other NLUs like CNLU Patna, RGNUL Patiala, NLU Assam, etc. The table given below shows median salaries and placement percentage of all NLUs which participate in NIRF 2026 Law rankings.

NLU Placements 2025
A look at the previous year's data numbers gives a better idea about where NLUs stand in terms of placement. Last year too, WBNUJS Kolkata beat all NLUs in terms of median salary with Rs 20 LPA. Last year, NALSAR Hyderabad also beat the number one NIRF-ranked NLU - NLSIU Bengaluru. NALSAR Hyderabad recorded a median salary of Rs 17.5 LPA, whereas NLSIU Bengaluru’s median salary was Rs 16 LPA.
