Around 14 central universities offer 5-year LLB programmes through the CUET UG law exam. Each participating university prescribes its own subject combination in the CUET BA LLB syllabus 2025 that candidates must opt for when completing CUET BA LLB 2025 registration. If candidates fail to opt for the subject prescribed by any university, they will not be eligible for admission into that university. Choosing the right subjects is also important because each additional subject chosen is expected to increase the application fee. In this article, find out what is the best subject combination in the CUET law exam that is likely to work for all universities.
It is important to note that in the revised syllabus of CUET BA LLB 2025, NTA has removed the legal studies paper and also Section 1B in the language section that consisted of foreign languages. The General Aptitude Test paper has replaced these subjects in the revised syllabus. NTA will conduct CUET BA LLB 2025 in online mode as part of the CUET UG examinations to be held between May 8 to June 1, 2025.
There are two papers that candidates have to choose from when deciding the subject combination -

Candidates must be careful while choosing the language. Most central universities accept either Hindi or English or in certain cases only English. Therefore, by choosing a regional language option, candidates may fail to obtain admission into central universities.
The General Aptitude Test paper has replaced the Legal Studies paper that existed earlier. Therefore, most central universities now require candidates to opt for the general test as the domain-specific subject. However, certain universities also allow candidates to choose from a variety of domain-specific subjects.
The table given below provides the list of subjects accepted by the participating central universities in CUET. 14 universities accept CUET UG law scores for admission into their 5-year LLB programmes.
