CLAT 2026 NRI Cut-Offs Released for National Law Universities

CLAT 2026 NRI Cut-Offs Released for National Law Universities

JasmineUpdated on 20 Jul 2026, 05:09 PM IST

The CLAT 2026 NRI and NRI-sponsored admission process is being conducted independently by participating National Law Universities (NLUs). NLUs conduct NRI/NRI-sponsored admissions in multiple rounds, depending on vacant seats. Some universities such as WBNUJS Kolkata, NLIU Bhopal, NLU Jodhpur, and HNLU Raipur have released three to five rounds of NRI/NRI-sponsored merit lists this year so far. Remaining universities are expected to release soon. Shortlisted candidates must pay the required admission fee before the specified deadline. Each NLU specified its individual eligibility criteria, application procedure, document requirements, counselling schedule, and fee structure for CLAT 2026 NRI admissions.

    CLAT 2026 NRI Cut-off vs General Cut-off

The CLAT 2026 NRI/NRI-sponsored cut-offs indicate a clear difference from the general category. Tier-1 NLUs such as NLIU Bhopal, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur, and other leading NLUs have released their NRI admission lists. The data shows that candidates securing approximately 64.75 to 93 marks have secured admission in tier-1 institutions. During central counselling, these universities closed the all-India general category admissions by AIR 364, which roughly translates to 97 marks.

Similarly, mid-tier NLU RMNLU Lucknow has closed its Round 1 NRI-sponsored admissions at AIR 48,878, equivalent to approximately 33.5 marks. The general category CLAT 2026 cut-off during central counselling was AIR 798, approximately 92.75 marks.

Why are CLAT 2026 NRI Cut-offs Lower in Some NLUs?

Several factors contribute to the difference between the general and CLAT NRI cut-offs.

    • NRI and NRI-sponsored seats are reserved categories with fewer applicants than the general category.

    • The competition level varies across NLUs driven by students’ preference for universities.

The tuition fee for NRI and NRI-sponsored candidates is usually higher than that of Indian students. While some top NLUs continue to have competitive NRI cut-offs, newer NLUs admit candidates at lower CLAT ranks.
