Most of the National Law Universities (NLUs) reserve some seats for CLAT NRI admission 2026. The NRI seats in NLUs often add up to 15% of the total seat intake. Candidates applying under the NRI/NRI sponsored category are required to appear for CLAT 2026. The CLAT NRI 2026 admission process to fill the CLAT seats under NRI/NRI sponsored category in CLAT is conducted separately and not through CLAT counselling process. CLAT NRI Admission 2026

The CLAT 2026 applications are open till October 31. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the Common Law Admission Test before the deadline. After appearing for the exam, such candidates must separately apply to the university in which they wish to seek admission.

NRI/NRIs Eligibility Requirements

Candidates applying under NRI/NRIs categories must meet the following criteria:

  • Candidate must have selected NRI/NRIs category while filling out the CLAT 2026 application form

  • The candidates must be an NRI/PIO/OCI if applying under the NRI category

Candidates applying under the NRI-sponsored category should be those who meet any of the following criteria;

  • Candidate must be a daughter or son of a NRI/PIO/OCI

  • Candidate whose legal guardian is an NRI/PIO/OCI

  • Candidate who is sponsored by an NRI/PIO/OCI who has a bonafide interest in the candidate's education.

CLAT NRI Admission Process 2026

The admission under the CLAT NRI quota starts typically after the announcement of results. The admissions are conducted in multiple rounds to fill the seats. Only those candidates who have filled out the CLAT application form under the selected NRI/NIRs category and have such rank are eligible to apply under these categories.

Steps in CLAT NRI 2026 Admission

Given below are the steps for admission of NRI/NRI sponsored category in NLUs. The admission is conducted in multiple rounds

  • Candidates must appear in CLAT 2026 and get a valid score
  • Publication of CLAT NRI admission notification by each NLU on its website
  • Submission of application form by the NRI candidate to the respective NLU
  • Publication of NRI/NRI sponsored merit list of selected candidates by the NLU based on CLAT 2026 scores.
  • Completion of admission formalities such as document verification and payment of university fees.

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is a national level entrance exam for the programs related to engineering. It has two levels known as JEE mains (first level) and JEE advance (second level) . NEET ( National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national level examination for admission in undergraduate medical courses. It is also conducted by NTA but in offline mode as in pen and paper test. In CLAT , the 9-digit admit card number is not the same as the roll number you have to write on the OMR sheet. The OMR sheet has only 7 blocks because the CLAT roll number is shorter.

You should check your admit card again and look for the roll number printed near your name and exam details. Fill only that roll number in the OMR sheet. Do not write the 9-digit admit card number.

If you still cannot find the roll number, you can ask the exam invigilator on the exam day.
