ILI CAT Exam 2024 - Application (Open), Exam (May 5), Eligibility, Syllabus & Pattern, Admit Card, Result

Indian Law Institute (ILI) has released the ILI CAT 2024 application form in online mode. Candidates interested in admissions can apply for ILI CAT 2024 till April 22, 2024. Eligible candidates could fill and submit the application form in online mode. 

When filling ILI CAT 2024 application form one must use correct and verifiable information only, as sharing false information could lead to disqualification. 

In order to fill ILI CAT application form 2024, the candidates need to register at the admission portal of the institute and fill in all details such as personal information, and educational qualification details. communication details etc.

Candidates also need to upload documents and pay the application fee, which is Rs 2,500. It is also suggested that the candidates should take the preview and printout of the application form while submitting the application form. 

Candidates seeking admission to the one-year postgraduate law programme must meet the eligibility criteria of ILI CAT 2024. Such candidates who don't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria may be disqualified at any stage of the admission process:  

ILI CAT eligibility criteria 2024:

• The candidate must have passed an L.L.B. Degree (with not less than 50% marks) from a recognized University/Institution under the Bar Council of India
• Candidate who have passed a law degree from a foreign university with at least 50% in aggregate or equivalent to Association of Indian University (AIU) Guidelines. 
• Candidates appearing in their qualifying examination can also apply. However, if the candidate's result of the qualifying degree is not submitted till the examination date of ILI CAT 2024, then his/her admission will be considered provisional. 
• Age limit: There is no age bar to appear in ILI CAT. 

The ILI CAT LLM 2024 is an offline, pen and paper-based test. The all India admission test consists of 140 objective type questions. The ILI CAT 2024 focuses on the following areas of law;

• Testing aptitude for research, 
• Legal reasoning and comprehension 
• Basic knowledge of different branches of law

The entrance exam will however not be the sole parameter of the selection process. A subjective paper to test the legal writing skills of the candidates will also be conducted. It will be of 40 marks. 

Finally, there will be a viva-voce round for candidates who have passed the examination. Taking all three components together, a final merit list will be prepared and uploaded to the website.

ILI CAT 2024 exam pattern - Test rules 

Law aspirants who have successfully submitted their application form will be issued ILI CAT 2024 admit cards few days before the date of exam. Candidates can download the admit card in online mode through their registered accounts. 

The admit card carries important information like the roll number of the candidate, the name and address of the exam venue and also the date and time of the exam.

The admit card of ILI CAT 2024 is a mandatory document for appearing in the admission test of the institute. Along with the admit card, candidates have to carry a valid Id card at their exam centre.

Indian Law Institute will declare the result of ILI CAT 2024 in online mode few days after conclusion of the exams. To check ILI CAT results, candidates need to visit the result portal and log in to their registered accounts. The result of ILI CAT 2024 will include details like section-wise and total marks obtained by the candidate and also their qualifying status.

Such candidates who qualify in ILI CAT 2024 are eligible to participate in the counselling and seat allotment process.

ILI CAT 2024 - Tie-breaking rule

In case of a tie between two or more candidates, the merit rank of such candidates will be determined as per the following method;

• Candidates having higher marks in the Legal writing skill and viva-voce put together will be ranked higher.
• If the tie is still unresolved, then the candidate getting more marks in Legal Writing Skill will get a higher rank. 

After the declaration of the result, the Indian Law Institute conducted ILI CAT 2024 viva voce and counselling procedures after the declaration of results. Viva voce is part of the selection process. Candidates who have cleared the entrance examination are required to appear in the interview or viva voce. It will carry a weightage of 20 marks.

The objective of conducting ILI CAT counselling will be to verify the details and documents submitted by the candidates. Thus, candidates will have to carry their original documents at the counselling centre. 

The counselling process will be open to candidates who have qualified in the exam. Further, the counselling will be conducted as per the merit rank of the candidate, with higher-ranked candidates to be given preference in the seat allotment process. Once the seat is allotted, candidates will have to accept the seat by submitting the course fee and completing the admission formalities.
