CLAT 2019 Major Changes
The National Law University Odisha Cuttack on behalf of CLAT Consortium has made certain major changes in CLAT 2019. The law aspirants preparing for CLAT 2019 can find below the major CLAT changes.
Exam Pattern - The candidates appearing in Common Law Admission Test will have to attempt an offline paper, this year.
Institutes - Appearing in this year's CLAT paper, the candidates will be competing for as many as 21 NLUs as the number of CLAT participating institutes have increased.
Seats - With an increased in number of participating institutes, the number of seats have also increased. There are a total of 2600 on offer through CLAT.
Website - Since the convening NLU has changed, the official website of CLAT 2019 will also be updated.  


According to the CLAT 2019 Committee, the national-level undergraduate law entrance exam will be held on May 12, 2019 for admissions to a total of 20 National Law Universities (NLUs) including Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (MPDNLU) as the youngest member of the CLAT committee. As many as 2600 seats will be on offer through CLAT 2019.

Important and Interesting Fact - India has a pool of 22 NLUs of which only one does not participate in CLAT even as the NLU conducts its own entrance examination. NLU Delhi conducts AILET to offer admissions into its BA LLB programmes. The latest entrant to the CLAT Consortium (erstwhile CLAT Core Committee) is HPNLU Shimla which until last year offered admissions through HPNLET (HPNET).

Date: March 18, 2019
CLAT 2019 examination date rescheduled
The CLAT Consortium has rescheduled CLAT 2019 examination date to May 26. The national level law entrance examination was to be held earlier on May 12, which has been postponed by 14 days, to avoid a clash with the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

CLAT 2019 application deadline extended
The CLAT Consortium has extended the application deadline of CLAT 2019 by two weeks. Candidates can now submit the duly-filled in CLAT application form till April 15, 2019.

CLAT 2019 application process postponed
The National Law Universities Consortium has begun the online registration of CLAT 2019. Candidates can fill the CLAT 2019 online application form till March 31.

According to the freshly launched CLAT 2019 official website, the application process for the Common Law Admission Test has been put on hold till January 13, which was earlier to begin on January 10, 2019.

NTA to conduct CLAT from next year
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) can be administered by National Testing Agency (NTA), if the Supreme Court orders so. In an interesting turn of events, to streamline conduct of CLAT from the academic year 2019-20, the NTA has shown its interest to conduct the most coveted national-level law entrance examination for admissions into the 20 NLUs.
