The Consortium of NLUs has published the CLAT fourth merit list 2026 on its website on May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM. An official revised schedule was uploaded on the official website of the consortium. The Allahabad High Court has delivered its judgment on the CLAT 2026 merit list revision, allowing the Consortium’s appeal to reverse the single-judge bench order. Earlier, a single-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court had ordered a revision of the CLAT 2026 merit list after it ruled on discrepancies in the answer key. The Division Bench of Allahabad High Court set aside the Single Judge’s order and ruled that no changes shall be made in the CLAT 2026 merit list, and no answers will also be changed.
The Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court set aside the Single Judge’s order and upheld the CLAT 2026 final answer key prepared by the Consortium of National Law Universities. The Court dismissed the student’s appeal seeking changes in three questions.
Appeal | Result |
Special Appeal No. 135/2026 (Consortium) | Allowed – Single Judge order set aside |
Special Appeal No. 137/2026 (Student) | Dismissed |
Question No. (Set-C) | Topic | Single Judge Decision | High Court (Division Bench) Decision | Final Answer Accepted |
Q6 | Logical Word Puzzle | Not interfered | Correct (No error) | Examiner’s Answer |
Q9 | Deductive Reasoning (Theft) | Both B & D correct | Incorrect interference – Only D is correct | Option (D) |
Q13 | Necessary Condition (Theft) | Not interfered | Correct (No error) | Examiner’s Answer |
The Allahabad HC Division Bench ruled that:
The Consortium followed a proper two-tier expert review process (Subject Expert Committee + Oversight Committee).
All of the three disputed questions had “plausible and reasonable answers” as per the final key.
The Single Judge erred in interfering with Question No. 9 by treating two options as correct.
Judicial review in academic matters is narrow and must respect expert opinion unless there is a clear, demonstrable error.
There is no ground for revising the CLAT 2026 merit list.
The Allahabad High Court reinforced that expert academic decisions in competitive examinations deserve high deference and cannot be easily overturned by courts.
Now that the CLAT 2026 merit list matter has been brought to an end, the way for the CLAT 2026 fourth merit list is clear. The consortium published the CLAT 2026 counselling schedule on its website. The CLAT 2026 fourth merit list was published on May 9, 2026. The last date for payment is May 14, 2026, by 2:00 PM. The CLAT UG 2026 fifth and final merit list will be released on May 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
