    The Current Affairs and General Knowledge section carries 28 to 32 questions out of the total 120 questions in CLAT UG examination. The CLAT expert committee has proposed removing the GK section, as part of the proposed CLAT reforms. However, the Consortium has confirmed that the CLAT 2027 syllabus and exam pattern will remain unchanged.

    The CLAT current affairs and GK section is passage-based. The CLAT GK syllabus includes national and international current affairs, legal developments, government policies, international relations, economy, science and technology, and static GK. Understanding what to study, how much preparation is enough, and what to avoid can significantly improve the CLAT 2027 score.

    Has the CLAT GK Section Been Removed?

    No. The CLAT expert committee report 2026 has proposed removing the General Knowledge and Current Affairs section from future CLAT UG examinations. However, the Consortium of NLUs has clarified that CLAT 2027 will continue with the existing syllabus and exam pattern. Therefore, candidates appearing for CLAT 2027 should continue preparing the Current Affairs and GK section as usual. The proposed reforms are under public consultation and can be considered for CLAT 2028 after further review.

    How Much Current Affairs Preparation is Enough for CLAT 2027?

    Covering the last 12 months of CLAT 2027 current affairs and GK before the exam is enough. Candidates should spend 45-60 minutes daily reading one quality newspaper and revise a monthly current affairs magazine. While preparing, focus on what happened, who was involved, why it matters, and what its legal, political, economic or social impact is.

    There is no need to memorise micro-details such as exact budget figures, clause numbers, or the names of junior officials unless they are directly relevant.     Hey there,

    If you mean CLAT eligibility for admission to 5-year LLB courses, there is no fixed CLAT score/rank that guarantees eligibility. You must first meet the basic Class 12 eligibility criteria, and admission is based on your CLAT rank, category, preferences, and counselling cut-offs.
