The Consortium has released detailed statistics on the number of candidates registered and students who appeared for CLAT after the exam. This year has shown a 17% increase in student participation across UG and PG. For instance, 92,344 students registered for CLAT 2026 (UG and PG), with about 96.83% attendance for UG, and 92.45% for postgraduate. This trend indicates rising interest in legal education and CLAT's rising popularity among Indians, making the competition intense for law aspirants. UG draws the largest candidate pool. Students’ participation in CLAT PG programs shows a growing trend as well, but slightly below the UG program.

In 2025, the UG segment of CLAT saw 62,832 registrations. Out of these, 60,544 candidates appeared for the exam, achieving an attendance rate of 96.39%. The postgraduate segment had 16,082 candidates registered, and 14,817 appeared, resulting in a slightly lower attendance rate than UG of 92.16%.
Overall, total CLAT registrations combining UG and PG were 78,914, with 75,361 candidates appearing, making a total attendance rate of 95.56%. UG candidates made up 79.65% of all registered aspirants and 80.31% of total appearing candidates. PG candidates represented 20.35% of total registrations and 19.69% of total appearances.

The number of registrations in CLAT UG has seen an increase, with candidates rising to 62,832 in 2025, a 40% increase from 2023. The number of candidates appearing for the UG exam has also shown consistent growth, reaching 60,544 in 2025 from around 53,226 (2020 & 2022). Attendance rates were peaking at 97.08% in 2024 and 96.39% in 2025. This shows the growing demand for CLAT seats among candidates for undergraduate law programs. The gap between registered and appeared candidates is very low, generally 2-4%, reflecting a high attendance rate.
PG registrations have nearly doubled from 9,490 in 2023 to 16,082 in 2025, marking growing interest at the postgraduate level. The rate of appearing in the CLAT PG exam showed a similar positive trend, climbing from 6,217 in 2022 to 14,817 in 2025, nearly a 140% rise. The overall PG percentage tends to be slightly lower than UG, but is between 92-94%, showing strong interest in NLU’s postgraduate programs by aspirants.
