The CLAT 2024 result has been announced on December 10, 2023. As per the the CLAT 2024 exam analysis, a good score in CLAT should be between 80-90+ for top NLUs. However, candidate with a low score in CLAT 2024 can also get admission in law programmes. This is because other than the 23 participating NLUs, there are also several private colleges participating in CLAT 2024. In these colleges, the chances of admission with a low score in CLAT is higher than in the case of top NLUs. Candidates can also consider appearing for other top law entrance exams in India, if they have a low score in CLAT 2024 .

Through the Common Law Admission Test candidates can get admissions into 3-year LLB, 5-year LLB, and LLM programmes of affiliate colleges. The list of affiliate colleges in CLAT 2024 includes well known names such as NMIMS, UPES Dehradun, BITS Law School, Mumbai, and NIRMA University. CLAT 2024 was conducted on December 3, 2023 in offline mode.

About CLAT (Common Law Admission Test)

The CLAT exam is conducted once in a year in the month of December in offline. At present there are around 131 CLAT exam centres across the country. Close to 52000 candidates are expected to have appeared for CLAT 2024. The number of candidates and the reputation of the participating NLUs, makes this law entrance exam, one of the most competitive exams in the country.

The CLAT 2024 question paper was designed as per the revised CLAT exam pattern. There were 120 questions divided across five sections. The paper was for 120 marks, with each correct answer carrying one mark, and a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The question paper is set in English language.

The CLAT 2024 syllabus tests the candidates in five sections namely - english, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and maths. There is no qualifying marks in CLAT. However, a low score in CLAT can make it difficult to get into NLUs. The CLAT 2024 cut off for top NLUs such as NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad and WBNUJS Kolkata is expected to be more than 90 marks this year, as pointed out in in the analysis of CLAT 2024 by experts .

Law colleges in India accepting low CLAT Scores (Eligibility Criteria)

Several Non-NLUs colleges in India accept low CLAT scores. The eligibility criteria may differ from one college to another. However, in general the following eligibility criteria is followed:

  • 5-year LLB: A pass in 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum percentage of 40/45%. There is no age limit.

  • 3-year LLB: Graduation in any stream with a minimum 45/50%. There is no age bar.

  • LLM: A law degree in 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB with a minimum 50%
