The Bar Council of India has already specified the AIBE 21 cutoff for students who appeared for the exam. It must be noted that AIBE 21 is a qualifying exam and candidates just need to pass the exam to enroll as an advocate. The AIBE 21 exam qualifying marks is 45% for general and OBC category. BCI has also specified the AIBE 21 passing marks for all the other categories. The AIBE 21 scorecard will also not mention the exact marks of the candidates, instead it will just mention the result status as passed or failed. Candidates must understand that if they get marks equal to or more than the AIBE 21 cutoff marks, their scorecard will have Pass written on it. Read the complete article to know the AIBE 21 cut off marks, Candidates who feel they might have passed the exam but have failed can apply for AIBE 21 rechecking.
Category | Qualifying % | Passing Marks |
General | 45% | 45 |
OBC | 45% | 45 |
SC | 40% | 40 |
ST | 40% | 40 |
PwD | 40% | 40 |
The AIBE 21 cutoff marks are not a fixed number but a fixed percentage 45% for General/OBC and 40% for SC/ST/PwD categories. After the exam is conducted the AIBE 21 qualifying marks can change based on how many questions are evaluated. If any questions are withdrawn after the objection process (as happened in AIBE 20, where 5 questions were dropped per set, reducing evaluation from 100 to 95 questions), the AIBE 21 passing marks are recalculated on the revised total. For example, 45% of 95 becomes 42.75 instead of a flat 45. This means the AIBE 21 cutoff marks published provisionally can shift slightly once BCI releases the final answer key.
To get an idea about how the difficulty level candidates can check the historical AIBE 21 cutoff. The AIBE cutoff keeps on changing based on the final answer key. In case there are withdrawn questions in the AIBE final answer key, the cutoff marks are decided after removing the withdrawn questions number from 100. Also, the AIBE 21 cutoff has been changed recently from 40 to 45% for General and OBC categories and 40% from 35% for all other categories. The below-given table gives the AIBE passing marks for the past few sessions:
AIBE Exam | Total Questions Evaluated | General/OBC Passing % | General/OBC Passing Marks | SC/ST Passing % | SC/ST Passing Marks |
AIBE 20 | 95* | 45% | 42.75 | 40% | 38 |
AIBE 19 | 93* | 45% | 42 | 40% | 37 |
AIBE 18 | 93* | 45% | 42 | 40% | 37 |
AIBE 17 | 98* | 40% | 39 | 35% | 34 |
AIBE 16 | 95** | 40% | 38 | 35% | 33 |
