The Consortium of NLUs has started the CLAT 2026 counselling on December 18. 2025. The CLAT 2026 counselling registration window opened on December 17 and will close on December 27, 2025. The CLAT 2026 first seat allotment will be published on January 7, 2026. As of now, the CLAT counselling schedule 2026 has been published for all five rounds. Last year, the CLAT counselling was conducted for three rounds only due to a lack of time. Candidates, while completing their CLAT counselling registration 2026, must carefully fill their NLU preferences, as it will be vital during the seat allotment process. Candidates invited for CLAT 2026 counselling can follow the below given steps to complete counselling registration:
Log on to CLAT’s official website and log in to the candidate portal.
Candidates will have to first validate the counselling invite sent by the consortium.
Next, enter your NLU preferences in your preferred order or follow the order above for NLUs based on ranking.
Next, pay the counselling fee applicable as per your category.
After the payment of the counselling registration fee, the counselling registration process will be completed.
Take the confirmation receipt for the same for future reference.

The Consortium of NLUs will publish the first CLAT 2026 seat allotment list on January 7, 2025. The CLAT 2026 first merit list will be published on the official website of the Consortium - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates who will be allotted seats will have three options - Freeze, Float and Exit. Candidates who want to confirm their seat and not participate in the next rounds of counselling can select the “Freeze” option. Those candidates who have been allotted seats and want to accept it, but also want to participate in the next rounds for a better college, can choose the “Float” option. Candidates who want to “Exit” the counselling process can choose the last option.

Candidates who have been invited for CLAT counselling 2026 can register till December 27, 2025. The CLAT 2026 counselling registration portal will close at 10 pm.
