The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has started the CLAT 2026 counselling registration on December 17, 2026 at 6 pm. Eligible candidates can now participate in counselling for admission to five-year integrated LLB and LLM courses for the academic year 2026–27. According to the official notification released on December 17, 2025, candidates shortlisted based on CLAT 2026 ranks will receive counselling invitations via email and SMS on their registered contact details. Candidates must log in to the official CLAT 2026 portal to complete the counselling registration within the prescribed timeline. All candidates who have secured a valid rank in CLAT 2026 and have received an SMS or email from the Consortium of NLUs regarding participating in the CLAT 2026 counselling process are eligible to register. The Consortium of NLUs invites roughly 5 times as many candidates as the number of seats available for admission.
The CLAT registration process 2026 comprises of following steps:

Pay the counselling fee
Fill and lock NLU preferences

CLAT 2026 Counselling Fee
Candidates must pay the counselling fee online to confirm participation:
₹30,000 – General / OBC / PWD / NRI / Sponsored categories
₹20,000 – SC / ST / BPL categories
Candidates must keep the following documents ready:
CLAT 2026 scorecard
Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
Category certificate (if applicable)
Domicile certificate (if required)
Transfer or migration certificate
Passport-size photographs
Valid photo ID proof
After each allotment round, candidates can choose to:
Accept the allotted seat
Apply for an upgrade in the next round
Exit the counselling process
Failure to select an option or pay the required fee within the deadline may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.

With a CLAT 2026 score of 60.75, AIR 17,715, and OBC-NCL rank 3,347 as an out-of-Delhi candidate, getting a seat in the Faculty of Law, Delhi University is very unlikely. DU’s cut-offs for OBC candidates are usually much higher, even in later rounds. You should keep backup options like

With AIR 10542 and OBC rank 1843, getting top NLUs is unlikely. However, you still have chances in newer or lower ranked NLUs like NLU Assam, NUSRL Ranchi, MNLU Nagpur/Mumbai, especially in later or vacancy rounds. Also consider good private law colleges as backup options.
Since you scored 8000 AIR in CLAT, getting into top NLUs may not be possible, so it is a good idea to look for affordable and good law colleges.
State government law colleges are usually low in fees, and have decent reputation. Some options include Government Law College, Mumbai, Faculty
