A CLAT score of 70-75 gives a marks percentage of roughly 58% to 62.5% marks. This range is not competitive enough for general category aspirants aiming for top NLUs, where cut-offs are significantly higher. However, for candidates belonging to SC and ST categories, this score is often sufficient to meet cut-offs at many NLUs, enhancing their chances of admission. EWS and OBC category candidates can also find options. Although it is limited but still feasible depending on specific NLUs and the NLU cut-off ranges.
CLAT 2026 does not have a fixed passing marks criterion; admission to National Law Universities is based on the candidate’s rank in the merit list, which depends on their exam score, the number of applicants, seat availability, and category. The official cut-off marks and merit list will be released after evaluation, determining the scores required to secure admission.
CLAT 2025 cut-off data shows that many admissions in this score range for EWS and OBC were possible mainly through state category reservations. EWS candidates scoring 70-75 in CLAT gained admission to NLUs like MNLU Mumbai, NUALS Kochi, NLUJA Assam, MNLU Nagpur, and MNLU Aurangabad through state reservation. Similarly, OBC candidates secured seats at CNLU Patna, MNLU Nagpur, Mumbai, NLUJA Assam, and Aurangabad via state quotas.
