The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced the AIBE 21 results on July 18, 2026. Candidates must carefully check their AIBE 21 result, including their score and qualifying status, after the result is declared. BCI has specified the minimum qualifying marks required to pass the examination. Candidates who believe there is an error in the evaluation must apply for AIBE 21 OMR rechecking before the specified deadline. Candidates can also reappear for the AIBE, as there is no limit on the number of attempts. The AIBE 22 exam will be held in the Novermber 29, 2026.
BCI has specified minimum qualifying marks for candidates appearing for the AIBE exam. The AIBE 21 passing marks may vary according to the candidate’s category.
Category | Qualifying Percentage | Passing Marks (Out of 100) |
General / OBC | 45% | 45 Marks |
SC / ST / Persons with Disability (PwD) | 40% | 40 Marks |
The ‘Withheld’ status in the AIBE 21 results means that the candidate might not have submitted the State Bar Council enrolment certificate. It does not mean that the candidate has failed the AIBE 21 exam. Candidates must log into their registered accounts on the official website and upload the enrolment certificate. BCI will verify the submitted document and release the AIBE 21 results 2026 within 7 to 10 working days.
BCI opens the OMR sheet rechecking window after declaring the AIBE 21 results. Candidates who believe there are any errors in the evaluation might opt for rechecking. They must submit the application online before the specified deadline and pay an online fee of Rs 500. BCI will send the results to the candidate's registered email address after the rechecking process. Candidates should ensure that they submit their requests within the specified timeline, as applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Candidates who failed the AIBE 21 exam can reappear for the exam in the upcoming session. BCI has not specified the number of attempts for the AIBE exam. This means candidates can appear for the exam as many times as required to qualify. The AIBE 22 official notification is likely to be released in August 2026. Candidates who failed in AIBE 21 can complete the registrations for the next attempt and prepare accordingly.
Candidates who failed the AIBE 21 exam are not eligible to obtain the Certificate of Practice (CoP). The CoP is issued to candidates who pass the AIBE by acquiring the minimum qualifying marks. CoP is a mandatory document required to practice law in India. Candidates can explore other legal career opportunities, including corporate legal roles or working as legal associates. They cannot represent clients in court as advocates. To practise as an advocate in India, candidates must qualify the AIBE and fulfil the BCI and SBC requirements.
