NIRF Law Rankings 2024: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has released the NIRF India rankings 2024 on August 12. The NIRF rankings 2024 have been released for various streams including law, engineering, dental, medical, management and innovation. This year, over 10,000 colleges and universities have participated in the NIRF India rankings 2024. In the NIRF Law rankings 2024, NLSIU Bangalore has been ranked as the top law college in India. In total 40 college have been included in the NIRF law rankings. The second and third rank law colleges are NLU Delhi and NALSAR Hyderabad. There are 25 government law colleges in NIRF law rankings. 16 NLUs have found a place in the NIRF rankings for 2024.

The NIRF law rankings include 40 colleges across the country. It includes government and private law colleges and universities in India. However, a majority of law colleges are National Law Universities. The private law colleges included in the top 10 include Symbiosis Law School Pune and Shiksha ‘O’ Anusandhan.
NIRF was started in 2016 to improve the standard of education, competition and ranking of colleges. In the first year, NIRF had around 3,000 applications from colleges. This year, over 10,000 colleges have participated in the NIRF India rankings 2024.
This year, NIRF has also introduced three more categories - Open universities, state-funded universities, and skill-based universities.

The Common Law Admission Test popularly known as the CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs). The entrance exam is accepted by 24 NLUs and over 60 law colleges across the country. A majority of law colleges listed in NIRF India rankings 2024 are NLUs that offer 5-year LLB and LLM courses. The next CLAT for the academic year 2025-26 will be held on December 1, 2024.
The second-ranking law college in the NIRF Law Colleges 2024 rankings is NLU Delhi. The university conducts its entrance exam known as All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). The scores of AILET are accepted by BA LLB, LLM and PhD courses. The next exam, AILET 2025 will be held on December 08.
The Symbiosis Law School Pune, the 5th ranked NIRF Law rankings 2024 accepts SLAT scores. The entrance exam is accepted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for BA LLB and BBA LLB courses. SLS Pune is among the four law schools of SIU that accept SLAT scores for admission to UG law programmes.
In the 8th edition of NIRF-Law rankings, the top five law colleges were NLSIU, NLU Delhi, NALSAR, WBNUJS Kolkata and JMI Delhi. It included around 11 NLUs and the remaining colleges were non-NLU government and private law colleges. The list of colleges is given below.
