The CLAT 2025 revised results are finally available on the NLU Consortium's website. The scorecards and rank list have several changes. While many of the students have improved CLAT ranks, some have also slipped in the rank list. So, what next now? There is a CLAT counselling followed by seat allotments in national law universities. It's all centralized.
But before that, the good news is that the NLU preference window is open until May 21. Several new students have received the counselling invite. All such students must fill out the NLU preferences before May 21. Previously registered candidates can edit the NLU preference list.
NLU choice filling is one of the most crucial parts of CLAT counselling and ultimately determines your admission chances to NLUs, so we suggest students fill out the preference order very carefully.
Regarding the cut-offs, they are likely to remain similar to previous years and are good indicators of admission trends in NLUs. Just for a common understanding, students can refer to the CLAT cut-offs of previous years if they want to know which are the popular NLUs and the closing ranks.
If we talk about preference order, In fact, for the top 12-13 NLUs, it is very much a straightforward preference order, starting with tier 1 NLUs such as NLS Bangalore, NALSAR, NUJS, NLU Jodhpur, NLU Bhopal, and GNLU Gandhinagar.
This is followed by tier 2 NLUs such as MNLU Mumbai, RMLNLU, NLU Raipur, NLU Odisha, NLU Kochi, NLU Patiala and CNLU Patna.
With regard to tier 3 NLUs, we recommend students compare these with non-NLUs like GLC Mumbai, ILS Pune, Jindal, BITs Law School and Nirma University before arriving at a conclusion. In case of any confusion or doubts, it is good to do extensive research on NLUs placements, courses and fees.

Finally, based on the CLT rank; if students are curious to know which NLU they are likely to get in the seat allotment process, we have a free tool - NLU predictor by Careers360. It uses historical cutoff data, seat availability, trends and various other parameters for suggesting the NLUs for a given rank. So, do consider using it before creating an NLU preference list. The first CLAT merit list will be published on May 26. Seat allotments will be based on candidates’ rank, NLU preferences and seat availability in NLUs.
Yes, the School of Excellence in Law (SOEL) accepts CLAT scores for admissions, and there are cutoffs for different categories. SOEL, part of TNDALU, offers BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and BCA LLB (Hons) programs. The cutoffs vary based on the category and program.
For the OC category, the cutoff for BA LLB/BBA LLB was 97.750, and for BCA LLB, it was 96.5.
The cutoff can fluctuate based on the number of applicants, the difficulty of the exam, and the number of seats available
Hello
Yes, scholarships are available for CLAT merit holders. Many law schools, including some top institutions, offer financial assistance based on CLAT scores. For example, National Law Universities (NLUs) often offer merit-cum-means scholarships to students who excel in the exam. Additionally, some private organizations and law firms also offer scholarships to top CLAT scorers. The amount and criteria for these scholarships vary, but they usually cover tuition fees or provide financial support for study materials and other expenses.
Currently, CLAT is conducted in various cities across India, but as of now, there are no official test centers outside India, including in the UAE. Students residing abroad typically need to travel to India to appear for the exam. However, rules and centers may change in future, so I suggest keeping an eye on the official CLAT Consortium website, especially when the 2026 notification is released. If traveling to India is challenging, you can plan your trip in advance around the exam date. Also, for NRI or NRI-sponsored seats in Indian law colleges, some universities may have a different selection process that doesn’t require CLAT, so you can explore those options too.
Thank you,
