The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has started the CLAT counselling registration process 2025 on May 17, 2025 at 4:00 pm. The CLAT 2025 counselling registration window will remain open until 5:00 pm on May 21, 2025. Candidates who have a valid score in the CLAT 2025 revised result can register for CLAT counselling 2025 through their login. The CLAT counselling process this time will be conducted in three rounds. This CLAT 2025 counselling process is applicable for admissions to the five-year integrated UG programmes. Only those candidates who clear the CLAT 2025 cut-off for each round will be able to participate in the CLAT counselling process 2025.
To complete the registration, candidates are required to pay the CLAT counselling registration fee by 5:00 pm on May 21, 2025. Candidates from the general category will have to pay CLAT counselling fees of Rs. 30,000, and ST/ SC/ OBC/ BC/ EWS/ PWD categories are required to pay Rs. 20,000. The payment will be done online after logging in to the CLAT 2025 portal. The counselling registration for CLAT 2025 is refundable. The Consortium of NLUs has also notified that candidates who had completed CLAT 2025 counselling registration as per the old results and are now ineligible for counselling as per the updated results will receive the counselling registration fee refund. However, candidates are advised not to wait till the last minute to make payments to avoid payment-related issues. Candidates must pay three types of CLAT counselling fees during the counselling process. The table below displays the CLAT counselling fees 2025.

Candidates can check the instructions for a refund of the CLAT counselling registration fee 2025:
If a candidate fails to get a seat at the end of the fifth round of the counselling process or has not chosen the Freeze or Float option and Exit from the counselling process, the CLAT 2025 counselling registration fee will be refunded in full.
Where a candidate has been allocated a seat and has chosen a Float or Freeze option till the fourth round and chooses to exit or fails to complete the admission at the chosen NLU by paying their fees, their CLAT counselling registration fee will be refunded in full if the Exit option is exercised before the last date or after a deduction of Rs 5,000 ), if exercised after 1:00 PM on May 24, 2025.
If a candidate is found to be ineligible by the NLUs upon document verification/ information provided at any round, the CLAT counselling registration fee will be refunded after a deduction of Rs. 5000.
If a candidate opts for the ‘Freeze’ or ‘Float’ option and pays the confirmation fee but later exits from the process will have to forfeit the confirmation fee. The CLAT counselling registration fee for such candidates will be refunded either in full or after a deduction of Rs. 5000 if the exit is exercised after a specified deadline.
Where a candidate is allotted a seat for the first time in the Fifth round of counselling, and the candidate chooses to exit or fails to complete their admission at the NLU by paying their fees, their counselling registration fee for CLAT 2025 shall be refunded in full.
Refunds will be initiated to the same account from which the counselling Registration fee was paid. However, candidates have to ensure that their given bank accounts are functional during the counselling and refund process.
Requests to settle refunds to another account will not be considered.
The Confirmation Fee paid by any candidate shall be adjusted against the fees payable at the NLU where a candidate has secured admission. If a candidate chooses the ‘Exit’ option or fails to pay the fees due at the NLU within the prescribed date, or is found ineligible by an NLU based upon the verification of documents, the confirmation fee shall not be refunded.

With an All India SC category rank of 1561 in CLAT, you have a strong chance of getting admission into several National Law Universities through the counselling rounds. Based on past year trends, this rank can fetch you a seat in NLUs like NLIU Bhopal, HNLU Raipur, RGNUL Patiala, and possibly even higher-ranked ones like WBNUJS Kolkata or NLU Jodhpur depending on how cutoffs move in the later rounds.
SC category cutoffs for top NLUs tend to vary each year, but many of them have admitted students with SC ranks between 1500 and 3000, especially in rounds 2 and 3. Your chances increase further if you list a wide range of NLUs in your preference order during counselling. Also, make sure to complete all required counselling steps, document verification, and preference locking on time to avoid missing out.

For Delhi University’s BA LLB program through CLAT, EWS category admissions last year (2024) typically closed around a rank of 1100 to 1200. This means if you scored around 90–95 marks in CLAT, you had a good chance of getting in. The exact cut-off can change slightly each year depending on competition and seat availability, but staying within the top 1200 is generally safe for EWS candidates.

Yes, you can get direct admission into BBA LLB at VIPS (Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies) with 82 percent in your Class 12 exams, but not without appearing in CLAT or IPU CET.
VIPS is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), and admissions to BBA LLB are done strictly through entrance exams. The primary mode of admission is through CLAT UG, as GGSIPU has adopted CLAT scores for law programs in recent years. Previously, the IPU CET was used for law admissions, but that has been phased out for integrated law courses like BBA LLB.
So, even with a good Class 12 score, you cannot get admission into VIPS for BBA LLB without a valid CLAT score. The university does not allow direct management quota admissions outside the entrance process for its law programs. You may need to wait for the next CLAT attempt or consider private universities that allow direct admission based on 12th marks.

For the best academic value and recognition choose NMIMS, or the Nirma University is also good. The DNLU is newer and can be considered as well but if we choose any one, then it is NMIMS.
