Amity University-Noida Law Admissions 2026
Among top 100 Universities Globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026
The CLAT 2026 Round 1 cutoff for the General category is the benchmark for admissions into India’s premier National Law Universities. These cutoffs represent the opening and closing ranks for the first round of admissions into the 26 participating National Law Universities (NLUs) and IIULER Goa. As this is the first allotment list, the competition is at its peak. Top-tier institutions, such as NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad, usually fill their seats very quickly with the top-ranked CLAT students.
For students in the General category, understanding these ranks is necessary for planning their legal future. The opening and closing ranks change based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the CLAT 2026 exam and the total number of candidates who took the test. By looking at these ranks, students can understand their chances of getting into their dream college. Whether they are aiming for a top-tier NLU or a newer NLU, these statistics help make the right choice between keeping the seat or trying for a better one in the next round.

After the release of the CLAT 2026 first seat allotment on January 07, 2026, candidates must choose one of three options to proceed. These are:
The Freeze option
The Freeze option is designed for candidates who have secured a seat in their first-choice National Law University and have no desire to change their allotment. Choosing this option means the candidate is fully satisfied and is withdrawing from any further upgrades in the CLAT counselling rounds. After clicking Freeze, the candidate must pay the seat confirmation fee and complete the document upload process by January 15, 2026.
The Float option
The Float option is for candidates who have secured a seat but wish to be considered for a higher-preference NLU in the next rounds. Selecting Float allows a candidate to hold their current seat as a backup while moving upward if vacancies arise in universities they ranked higher in their preference list. To retain the right to Float, candidates must still pay the seat confirmation fee and upload their documents by the deadline. If an upgrade occurs in the further lists, the previous seat is automatically vacated, but if no upgrade occurs, the candidate retains their original seat.
The Exit option
The Exit option is for candidates who decide not to pursue admission through the CLAT 2026 counselling process anymore. This option is usually chosen by candidates who have secured admission through other entrance exams or have decided to opt out of law school for the current year. Once Exit is selected, the candidate’s current allotment is immediately forfeited, and they cannot rejoin the counselling process under any circumstances for the 2026 session.

Hey there,
If you mean CLAT eligibility for admission to 5-year LLB courses, there is no fixed CLAT score/rank that guarantees eligibility. You must first meet the basic Class 12 eligibility criteria, and admission is based on your CLAT rank, category, preferences, and counselling cut-offs.
For NLUs, a better rank
