The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes at participating NLUs. Through CLAT 2026, candidates are offered admission to the 5-year integrated law courses such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc LLB, and B.Tech LLB. Additionally, admission to the PG course (LLM) is also done through CLAT, which offers specialisations in areas like Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Corporate Law.
Candidates interested in pursuing any of these courses can apply for the CLAT exam as it acts as a bridge between students and institutions. With 25 participating NLUs and 65 affiliated colleges accepting its scores. These law schools are known for giving students good legal education with their academic excellence, experienced faculty, and high placement rates.

Candidates must make sure they meet the CLAT 2026 eligibility criteria before appearing for the CLAT examination. For the undergraduate courses, candidates have to complete their class 12 from a recognised board. However, those who desire to choose the LLM course must have an undergraduate law degree. The detailed eligibility criteria for each CLAT 2026 course have been mentioned below:
1. BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB
Candidates planning to pursue these CLAT 2026 courses should meet the following eligibility criteria:
Completed class 12 or equivalent from a recognized central or state board.
General category candidates need at least 45% marks, while SC/ST category students should have at least 40% marks in their class 12 exam.
Candidates must have scores passing marks in all their subjects in class 12th

2. B.Sc LLB
For pursuing a B.Sc LLB course through CLAT 2026, candidates should meet the following eligibility criteria.
Candidates should have passed their class 12 or equivalent from a recognized central or state board.
Candidates must have completed their class 12th in the science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as main subjects.
3. B.Tech LLB
Here are the eligibility criteria for pursuing B.Tech LLB through CLAT 2026.
Candidates must have passed their class 12 or equivalent from a recognised central or state board.
Candidates should have completed their class 12th in the science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.
General category applicants must have secured at least 45% marks in class 12th (40% marks for the reserved categories)
Candidates must have scores passing marks in all their subjects in class 12th

4. LLM

Candidates must have completed their undergraduate law degree from a recognised university.
Students belonging to the general category should have scored at least 55% (50% for reserved candidates) in their UG degree.

Aspirants are required to enter their personal and educational details, upload the prescribed documents, and finally pay the CLAT application fee to complete the registration process. Candidates must make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria and complete all the application formalities before the deadline. The last date to fill out the CLAT 2026 application form is October 31, 2025.

Shortly after the CLAT 2026 results are announced, candidates must register for CLAT counselling 2026 and pay the prescribed fee, and select their preferred NLUs and courses
Step 1:Online Registration: Logging into the CLAT portal to confirm participation
Step 2: Counselling Fee Payment: Candidates must pay the counselling fee (Rs. 30,000 for General and Rs. 20,000 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories)
Step 3: Here, candidates have to select and arrange from the list of NLUs and courses based on their preferences.
