The All India Bar Examination is one of the most competitive legal examinations in India. Any law graduate who wants to become an advocate in India has to appear for the All India Bar Exam. This aspect of the examination makes it popular, and lakhs of candidates register and appear for it every year. This article explains how many candidates appear in AIBE based on last year's trend. The AIBE 22 examination will be conducted on November 29, 2026. Eligible candidates can register for the exam on the official website. The AIBE XXII application form will be available from August 19, 2026. The last date to apply for the exam is October 27, 2026.

As per the AIBE 22 eligibility criteria, BCI has allowed final-year law students to appear for the exam. Candidates who have not registered with a State Bar Council were also allowed to appear for AIBE 22. These relaxations are expected to significantly increase the number of candidates who appeared for AIBE 22 compared to last year.
Past sess suggest that a total of 1,75,701 candidates have appeared for the AIBE 21 exam. The high number of candidates appearing for AIBE is because it is the only exam through which law graduates can become advocates and practise law in India. The relaxed AIBE eligibility norms can also affect the increasing number of candidates who will appear for AIBE 22.

As per the available data, the AIBE pass percentage stands at around 65.92% in the previous year. If 1.75 lakh candidates appeared for AIBE 21, then the number of qualified candidates is around 1.15 lakhs.
AIBE is a qualifying exam. So all the candidates who clear the AIBE 22 cut-off will be considered to have cleared the bar exam. General and OBC candidates need 45% marks to clear AIBE, while SC/ST/PwD candidates need 40% marks.
