All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a certificate-based exam conducted usually twice a year by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The Bar Council of India conducts the AIBE exam to test an advocate's ability to practice law in India. The AIBE 20 (XX) exam will be conducted in around 55 cities having 140 centres throughout India. The All India Bar Examination is usually conducted twice a year, but in 2025, it is scheduled to be conducted only once on November 30, 2025. The BCI conducts the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) for law graduates to practice law in Indian courts. To appear for the AIBE exam, candidates have to enrol as an Advocate with the respective State Bar Council.
The AIBE exam pattern contains multiple-choice questions from different areas of law. There is no negative marking in the AIBE exam. Candidates must score atleast 45 marks out of 100 to qualify in the exam and 40 marks for SC/ST candidates. The All India Bar Examination is no longer an open-book exam. Candidates cannot carry books and other textual material inside the exam hall. However, Bare Acts (without notes) are allowed inside the exam hall. The AIBE exam is considered an easy exam. It is a basic-level test to examine the suitability of the law graduate for the profession. There is no limit to the number of AIBE attempts.
