NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, is widely recognised as one of the premier legal institutions in India. The competition to get into NALSAR is incredibly high due to its popularity and consistent position at the top of the NIRF law rankings. NALSAR offers a total intake of 132 seats for its undergraduate law program. For students in the general category, they usually need an All India Rank within the top 150 to 170 to secure a seat.
The admission process is managed by the Consortium of NLUs, which conducts the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) entrance examination and the centralised counselling process. Admission to the 5-year integrated LLB (Hons) program at NALSAR is based on the candidate's rank in the CLAT 2026 exam and category-wise seat availability within the university.

NALSAR Hyderabad has established a total intake of 132 seats for the BA LLB (Hons) program for the 2026 academic session. The seats are categorised into a 75% quota for All India candidates (99 seats) and a 25% quota specifically for Resident Students of Telangana (33 seats). Within this CLAT 2026 reservation policy, the university mandates 30% of the total intake, i.e. 39 seats, be reserved for female candidates across all respective categories. Furthermore, 5% of the seats (totalling 6 seats) are horizontally reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
The release of the first allotment list on January 07, 2026, marks the start of the CLAT 2026 admission finalisation. Students allotted NALSAR must choose to "Freeze" their seat to confirm admission, or "Float" if they are aiming for an upgrade to NLSIU Bangalore in subsequent rounds. Given the high demand, CLAT seats in the General category at NALSAR rarely remain vacant beyond the second round. Candidates should ensure all category certificates and academic documents are ready for immediate verification upon allotment. Failure to take action or pay the confirmation fee within the specified time will result in the forfeiture of the seat.
