NUALS Kochi has released the NRI admission notification for the 2026-27 admission cycle. Students seeking entry into the 5-year integrated BA LLB (Hons) program under the NRI-sponsored and Foreign National categories are eligible to apply. The university released this official notification on March 09, 2026. The last date to apply for the NUALS Kochi NRI application is April 25, 2026. Admission to NUALS through the NRI specialised route does not require the CLAT 2026 examination. Instead, the university provides 8 supernumerary seats based directly on 10+2 academic merit. Candidates must submit their applications directly to the university using the format provided by the institution.

Candidates do not need to appear for CLAT 2026 to apply for these seats. They must meet these specific academic and sponsorship standards to qualify:
Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or an equivalent exam recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
A minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination is mandatory.
English must have been a compulsory subject in the 10+2 curriculum.
Candidates must be sponsored by an NRI, OCI, or PIO who undertakes financial responsibility for the entire five-year duration.
Applicants under the NRI/NRI-sponsored quota are specifically exempted from appearing for CLAT 2026.

NUALS Kochi follows a specific protocol if these specialised seats are not filled during the admission cycle:
Foreign national vacancy: If the 2 seats for Foreign Nationals remain vacant, they are first offered to candidates in the NRI-sponsored quota. In this scenario, the NRI-sponsored fee structure applies.
NRI-sponsored vacancy: If the 6 seats for NRI-sponsored candidates (or any reverted Foreign National seats) remain unfilled, they are converted into All India General Category seats. These are then filled based on the CLAT 2026 merit list.

NUALS Kochi does not use CLAT scores for the NRI/NRI-sponsored category. Candidates must follow the admission process mentioned below to apply for this category:
Candidates must first pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 5,000 through the SBI Collect gateway available on the official NUALS website.
After making the payment, the candidate must generate a payment receipt and email a copy to admissions2026@nuals.ac.in.
Candidates must submit their application form, along with a hard copy of the payment receipt, by April 25, 2026.
The university prepares a merit list based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 or equivalent examination.
Candidates currently appearing for their board exams in 2026 must submit their final results by email no later than June 1, 2026, to remain eligible for consideration.
The university office verifies all sponsorship and academic documents before confirming admission.

Candidates must ensure the following documents are attached to the NRI application form:
A copy of the statement of marks for the qualifying examination (equivalent to 10+2) recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
AIU equivalence certificate (for international boards).
Conversion certificate if the school or board provides grades instead of marks.
Copy of the candidate's birth certificate.
Copies of the sponsor’s passport and a valid residence permit to establish legal residency abroad.
An embassy certificate from the Indian Embassy of the respective country to prove the valid NRI status of the sponsor.
A signed undertaking from the sponsor promising financial support and stating the relationship with the candidate.
