The Consortium of National Law Universities is expected to restart the CLAT 2025 counselling process soon. The Delhi HC has already directed the consortium to publish the revised CLAT 2025 results as per the earlier verdicts passed by the single-judge bench and later upheld by the division bench in December 2024. A lingering question on candidate’s minds would be whether the change in marks will lead to any impact on the CLAT cut-off. In this article, find out how the candidate’s marks will change due to the revised result and whether it will lead to any change in the cut-offs.
While hearing the CLAT 2025 result petition filed by Aditya Singh, the Delhi HC modified the CLAT answer key for two questions. The answer to question no 14 was changed from D to C. Question number 100 whose answer as per the consortium was option D was withdrawn altogether as none of the given options were correct. The CLAT 2025 counselling has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing cases.
The table below shows the possible changes in the candidate’s score if they marked the options that have been under consideration for the two questions given above. In the best-case scenario, a candidate’s score can increase by 1.5 marks. In the worst-case scenario, a candidate’s score can decrease by 2.25 marks.

The NLU cut-offs will remain unaffected due to the change in the results. Some of the determining factors for the CLAT cut-off are the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, the seat matrix, and the CLAT 2025 reservation criteria followed by each NLU.
Irrespective of whether the marks of a candidate in CLAT 2025 change or not, the CLAT cut-offs will continue to the earlier trends. The cut-offs will be determined independently of how the results are revised. However, the change in result is expected to cause a shift in the candidate’s rank. As per the CLAT marks vs rank analysis, a change of 1-2 marks is expected to cause a change of 1000 rank in the candidate’s result.

With AIR 10542 and OBC rank 1843, getting top NLUs is unlikely. However, you still have chances in newer or lower ranked NLUs like NLU Assam, NUSRL Ranchi, MNLU Nagpur/Mumbai, especially in later or vacancy rounds. Also consider good private law colleges as backup options.
Since you scored 8000 AIR in CLAT, getting into top NLUs may not be possible, so it is a good idea to look for affordable and good law colleges.
