The Consortium of National Law Universities is expected to restart the CLAT 2025 counselling process soon. The Delhi HC has already directed the consortium to publish the revised CLAT 2025 results as per the earlier verdicts passed by the single-judge bench and later upheld by the division bench in December 2024. A lingering question on candidate’s minds would be whether the change in marks will lead to any impact on the CLAT cut-off. In this article, find out how the candidate’s marks will change due to the revised result and whether it will lead to any change in the cut-offs.

What is the Delhi HC Verdict Passed in December?

While hearing the CLAT 2025 result petition filed by Aditya Singh, the Delhi HC modified the CLAT answer key for two questions. The answer to question no 14 was changed from D to C. Question number 100 whose answer as per the consortium was option D was withdrawn altogether as none of the given options were correct. The CLAT 2025 counselling has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing cases.

Possible Changes in CLAT Score After Revision

The table below shows the possible changes in the candidate’s score if they marked the options that have been under consideration for the two questions given above. In the best-case scenario, a candidate’s score can increase by 1.5 marks. In the worst-case scenario, a candidate’s score can decrease by 2.25 marks.

Will Change in Marks Impact Cut-Off?

The NLU cut-offs will remain unaffected due to the change in the results. Some of the determining factors for the CLAT cut-off are the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, the seat matrix, and the CLAT 2025 reservation criteria followed by each NLU.

Irrespective of whether the marks of a candidate in CLAT 2025 change or not, the CLAT cut-offs will continue to the earlier trends. The cut-offs will be determined independently of how the results are revised. However, the change in result is expected to cause a shift in the candidate’s rank. As per the CLAT marks vs rank analysis, a change of 1-2 marks is expected to cause a change of 1000 rank in the candidate’s result.

Hello there,

Having a 15000 general rank and 1740 as your SC category rank, your chances of securing a seat are very low. As per the previous trends, it is a direct no for you to get into the top-tier NLUs since the closing general rank is around 1500-3000. If

With a CLAT PG rank of 1257 in the SC category and being a woman candidate with Rajasthan domicile, you do have a realistic chance of securing admission to several National Law Universities, though the top NLUs may be difficult at this rank. Admission chances depend heavily on category-wise cut-offs,

With a CLAT PG rank of around 11,000, getting admission into the top National Law Universities (NLUs) is not likely, as their general category cut-offs usually close much earlier. However, you still have realistic chances in lower-ranked and newer NLUs, especially in the later rounds of CLAT counselling or through
