The Delhi HC has directed the Consortium of National Law Universities to publish the revised CLAT 2025 results. The change in score will also cause a drastic shift in the candidate’s rank in the CLAT 2025 merit list. The HC has ordered revision in the CLAT 2025 answer key of 4 questions. In the revised CLAT results, candidates are likely to see their score go up by up to 4 marks and go down by up to 2.5 marks depending on which answers they marked. The Consortium of NLUs will notify the CLAT 2025 counselling revised dates soon. The NLU admissions will be done as per the revised result.
By gaining 2 marks in the revised CLAT result, a candidate’s rank can go up by a minimum of 100 to a maximum of around 1500 ranks. The trends in CLAT marks vs rank analysis show that the rank shifts are comparatively lower at higher scores. The CLAT ranks tend to shift drastically at lower score levels.
The tables given below provide the shift in their rank a candidate is likely to see in the CLAT merit list upon gaining 2 marks. The CLAT rank shift has been provided for various rank ranges between 100 and 20000.
Rank as per Old Result | Expected Shift in Rank after Gaining 2 Marks |
100 | - |
200 | +100 |
400 | +150 |
600 | +200 |
800 | +300 |
1000 | +300 |
Rank as per Old Result | Expected Shift in Rank after Gaining 2 Marks |
5000 | +1000 |
6000 | +1200 |
7000 | +1300 |
8000 | +1300 |
9000 | +1300 |
10000 | +1500 |
Rank as per Old Result | Expected Shift in Rank after Gaining 2 Marks |
10000 | +1500 |
11000 | +1400 |
12000 | +1600 |
13000 | +1500 |
14000 | +1700 |
15000 | +1600 |
Rank as per Old Result | Expected Shift in Rank after Gaining 2 Marks |
15000 | +1600 |
16000 | +1800 |
17000 | +1500 |
18000 | +1500 |
19000 | +1600 |
20000 | +1500 |
The tables above show that for CLAT rank 100 to 1000 the shift in rank in the revised result is between 100 to 300 ranks indicating a less dramatic change. However, for CLAT ranks 5000 to 20000, the shift in rank due to the revised result is between 1000 to 1800 ranks. This indicates that the margins are very small at lower ranks due to higher competition at that level. Even a small difference of 2 marks can make or break a candidate’s chances of obtaining an NLU seat.
