The Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test (ILI CAT) 2026 is conducted to secure a seat at the Indian Law Institute (ILI), New Delhi. The ILI institute is expected to release the official notification for the 2026 session in mid-March 2026. Through ILI CAT 2026, candidates will be accepted into the institute's LLM programme. ILI New Delhi also offers PhD in Law and various diploma certificate programmes. The ILI CAT application window for the 2026-27 academic session is expected to open in April 2026. Candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs 2500. Candidates can fill out the form when it is released on the ILI’s official website: ili.ac.in. ILI CAT LLM entrance test 2026 is tentatively scheduled for early May 2026.
The exam follows an offline format, having 140 objective questions. The syllabus of ILI LLM entrance exam 2026 is divided into two parts. The first part of the exam tests the candidate's proficiency in English and GK. The second part tests the candidate's knowledge about various laws. Indian Law Institute LLM entrance 2026 test is only one of the components of the ILI Delhi LLM selection process. On the day of ILI Delhi LLM entrance 2026, the institute will also conduct a subjective exam to test the candidate's writing/research ability. Shortlisted candidates must then attend a viva voce. The final selection of the candidate will be made based on the composite scores of the three components of the ILI CAT selection process.

Indian Law Institute will declare the result of the ILI CAT 2026 online tentatively in last week of May or early June 2026. To check ILI CAT results, candidates need to visit the result portal and log in to their registered accounts. The result of ILI CAT 2026 will include details like section-wise and total marks obtained by the candidate and also their qualifying status.
Shortlisted candidates will be called to attend the viva voce which is the third component in the ILI Delhi LLM selection process. The ILI CAT LLM viva voce will be conducted in the first week of July 2026. The final merit list of ILI CAT 2026 will be prepared based on the candidate's consolidated scores in the objective test, subjective test, and viva voce.
In case of a tie between two or more candidates, the merit rank of such candidates will be determined as per the following method;
Candidates seeking admission to the one-year postgraduate law programme must meet the eligibility criteria of ILI CAT 2026. Such candidates who don't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria may be disqualified at any stage of the admission process:
Indian Law Institute (ILI) Delhi will open the ILI CAT LLM 2026 application window tentatively in March 2026. Eligible candidates can fill out and submit the application form in online mode from the official website - ili.ac.in. When filling ILI CAT 2026 application form one must use correct and verifiable information only, as sharing false information can lead to disqualification.

The ILI CAT LLM 2026 is an offline, pen and paper-based test. The all-India admission test consists of 140 objective-type questions. The ILI CAT 2026 focuses on the following areas of law:
The entrance exam will, however, not be the sole parameter of the selection process. A subjective paper will also be conducted along with the exam to test the legal writing skills of the candidates. The subjective exam is for 40 marks.
Finally, there will be a viva voce round for candidates who have been shortlisted based on the scores in the first two components. Combining the scores obtained in all three components of the selection process, a final merit list will be prepared of the allotted candidates.

The ILI CAT 2026 requires comprehensive preparation from the candidates in different areas. The test will evaluate the candidate's ability in English, GK, legal knowledge, and writing skills. Given below are a few preparation tips for ILI CAT 2026:
ILI New Delhi will issue the ILI CAT 2026 admit card tentatively in May 2026. All the candidates who have completed ILI CAT LLM 2026 registration can download the admit card for ILI CAT 2026 online through their registered accounts. The admit card carries essential information like the roll number of the candidate, the name and address of the exam venue and also the date and time of the exam.
The admit card of ILI CAT 2026 is a mandatory document for appearing in the admission test of the institute. Along with the admit card, candidates have to carry a valid Id card at their exam centre.
ILI will publish the ILI CAT LLM merit list based on the consolidated score of the candidates in the exam, writing test and viva voce. The institute will publish the first merit list tentatively in July 2026. Shortlisted candidates are required to pay the fees to confirm the seat at the university. The institute will publish the second and third merit list tentatively in mid-July or third week of July 2026.
The objective of conducting ILI CAT counselling will be to verify the details and documents submitted by the candidates. Thus, candidates will have to carry their original documents at the counselling centre.
Further, the counselling will be conducted as per the merit rank of the candidate, with higher-ranked candidates to be given preference in the seat allotment process. Once the seat is allotted, candidates will have to accept the seat by submitting the course fee and completing the admission formalities.
