Aligarh Muslim University who had earlier announced their BA LLB Entrance Exam on the same date chosen by CLAT 2015 Committee, has now announced a new date, making it possible for aspirants to appear for both the law exams for this academic year. The move has been taken by AMU after Careers360 contacted University officials regarding the clash of the law entrance exam date.
As confirmed by AMU officials, the new date for Aligarh Muslim University Law Entrance Exam is June 1, 2015. CLAT 2015 exam date, however, remains unchanged and will be conducted on May 10.
Earlier, both the institutions had announced the exam dates on the same day, i.e. May 10, 2015. While AMU was the first to announce the date on December 5, 2014, CLAT 2015 Committee had notified the exam date 20 days later i.e. on December 25, making it impossible for examinees to appear for both exams on the same date.

The clash of the law entrance exam dates had left several aspirants confused and those planning to appear for both these exams were in dilemma on choosing one over the other.
On January 21, 2015, Careers360 contacted both institutions regarding the issue following which AMU officials confirmed the rescheduling of entrance exam date.
Prof. Javaid Akhter, AMU, Controller of Examinations said, “AMU BA LLB Entrance Exam has been re-scheduled and the new date is June 1, 2015.”

Although, the number of seats in AMU is less compared to CLAT, it is still considered to be one of the major exams by law aspirants. CLAT which is being conducted online this year includes 16 participating NLUs having as many as 2164 seats while AMU invites applications for a total of 100 BA LLB seats.
What happened till now?
Aligarh Muslim University had issued the notification for exam date prior to CLAT 2015 Committee. AMU Controller of Examinations, Prof. Javaid Akhtar had issued a notification, vide dated, December 5, 2014 declaring AMU BA LLB Entrance Exam to be on May 10, 2015. CLAT 2015 Committee comprising of 32 members had announced Online CLAT 2015 on December 25, 2014.
Last year, in an interaction with Careers360, CLAT Convener from GNLU had said that the conducting body had announced the exam date in advance to other exam dates. Hence, it did not have to reschedule the date. However, this year, AMU had announced the exam date before CLAT, which raises the question as to why the CLAT committee has still not taken any notice of the issue.
