Avneesh Gupta, a minor, filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court against the CLAT 2026 final answer key. He alleged that three of his objections against the CLAT 2026 answer key were not considered in the final answer key. Irrespective of the consortium’s expert committee agreeing to the petitioner's objections, they were not considered in the CLAT 2026 final answer key. No reasons were provided for the same. As a result, the Allahabad HC directed the consortium to accept the objections raised by Avneesh Gupta and make the required revisions in the CLAT 2026 results.
The consortium postponed the release of the CLAT 2026 third merit list. In its defence, the consortium filed several applications for the stay of the CLAT merit list revision. The Allahabad HC conducted the special appeal made by the consortium on February 20, 2026. The division bench of Hon’ble Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh and Hon’ble Justice Vivek Saran heard the special appeal.
After the hearing, the Allahabad HC put a stay on the CLAT 2026 merit list revision. Now, the consortium is set to continue the CLAT 2026 counselling process without making any changes in the upcoming merit lists. They will soon release the CLAT 2026 third merit list. The dates for the subsequent rounds of the counselling might also be changed. Candidates can expect a revised CLAT 2026 counselling schedule on the official website of the consortium. The CLAT 2026 counselling process will resume shortly, and the merit lists will be published without any revisions. Candidates waiting for the upcoming counselling rounds can expect the process to be conducted as per the usual format. The CLAT 2026 third merit list is likely to be published in the last week of February 2026.
