SLAT 2024 is administered on a national level and the medium of the test is English for all the sections. The total number of marks in the SLAT exam is 60 and the cut-off for the same may vary from year to year based on the intensity and difficulty level of the questions. The exam contains Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) which consist of four options each out of which one option is to be chosen accurately. Furthermore, every correct answer shall be allotted one mark each. There are no criteria for negative marking to the incorrect answers.

The SLAT exam consists of majorly Five major sections based on which a candidate is evaluated known as, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge. The marks weightage of all these five sections is as mentioned below:

However, the main exam, i.e., SLAT, is just one of the aspects of the evaluation. There are other components attached to the selection procedure as well which are WAT(Written Ability Test ) and Personal Interview. Lets go through these points in detail for slat wat and pi preparation tips
SLAT (Symbiosis Law Aptitude Test): The entrance test that is of 60 marks as mentioned above.
SLAT WAT (Written Ability Test): Now the question arises How to prepare for a SLAT written ability test?
The written ability test is conducted after the main exam of the SLAT which comprises an online essay writing test weighing 20 marks. The topics for these essays are compiled from Current Affairs, Social Issues, Business Studies, History Etc. For example, Discuss the impact of social media on Freedom of Speech and Expression under Article 19 of The Constitution of India.
Keep yourself updated regarding general knowledge and current affairs: in the return aptitude test that is WAT. One of the major key things is to connect the link between the general knowledge of current affairs. The questions can be made upon it logically, a solution might be as accordingly, the written ability test calls for one thought process on how to apply the knowledge that one has into reasoning.

SLAT PI (Personal Interview): The personal interview is the final round of the SLAT exam. Only the shortlisted candidates sit for the PI round. So the next question that arises for the candidates is how to prepare for a SLAT personal interview.
The personal interview round includes a candidate’s willingness and ability to continue law as a career wherein questions related to general legal knowledge, psychology, decision-making on real-life scenarios and personal skills are expected to be answered. For example, what inspired you to pursue law? or how do you deal with stress or excitement in overwhelming situations? The SLAT marking scheme of this round is 30 marks.
The very first question that is asked in personal interviews is please tell me something about yourself? Well, the answer is very simple. You just need to organize it first, tell your name, where you are from, what are your academic things, what are your achievements, some certifications you have, and your hobbies and interests! And it’s all that.
Your first question drives you through the course of the interview, as interviewers usually pick up the topics from your personal experiences only.
By any chance, if it happens that you don’t know the answer. Take a brief pause and reply that you are unaware of this matter and will work on it so that when next time this question pops up any other time will be able to answer it. do not answer any questions in a hurry. Listen to it, compose the answer and then deliver it .
Just be yourself and answer. Accordingly. It is the key to the Best personal interviews, and do not forget to dress elegantly and be natural.
Therefore, a candidate is analysed based on (SLAT + SLAT WAT + SLAT PI).
Further, once all three tests are completed successfully, with the summation of the aggregate scores of all three tests, a candidate is qualified to be admitted to the Symbiosis Law School and allotted different branches of Symbiosis Schools according to their SLAT scores Also, as mentioned previously, the passing criteria for these tests may vary every year.
The SLAT exam also assesses candidates admiring to appear for a 3-year law course; the SLAT syllabus is similar to that of the 5-year LLB course.
