In the CLAT 2025 hearing conducted on March 3, 2025, the Delhi High Court ordered that the next hearing on the matter will be conducted on April 7. The case was heard by a division bench that comprised of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela. The CLAT 2025 counselling will be further delayed due to the new court order. In this article, find out what the court said about the matter in its hearing on March 3.
The Delhi HC observed that there are multiple cases pertaining to CLAT UG and CLAT PG and it can create confusion. The court therefore directed the counsels representing the candidates to submit a common list of writ petitions that pertain to both CLAT UG 2025 and CLAT PG 2025. All the writ petitions must be clubbed in one and the counsel representing the Consortium of National Law Universities must file a counter affidavit within two weeks.
The HC further directed the Registry to serve a copy of the writ petition to the counsel representing the Consortium of NLUs within 3 days. Any other writ petition received by the HC will be served to the consortium’s counsel within two days of its receipt.
The next CLAT 2025 HC hearing date is now April 7. The one-month time gap includes the two weeks that the consortium has received to file a counter affidavit. The petitioners are also required to come up with a common list of petitions.
The wait for the CLAT 2025 results has now become longer as the next hearing date is more than a month away. However, the court reiterated its commitment to speedy resolution of the CLAT 2025 cases as the student’s board exams are going on. Candidates can also look at other law entrance exams as alternatives to the Common Law Admission Test to maximise their chances of admission.
