The registration for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XXI (21) has officially begun on February 11, 2026. This mandatory certification exam for law graduates is scheduled to be conducted on June 7, 2026. The AIBE 21 registration 2026 will close on April 30, 2026. Candidates can make the corrections in the AIBE 21 application form till May 3, 2026. BCI will release the AIBE XXI admit card on May 22, 2026. As per the AIBE eligibility criteria, final-year law students without backlogs and candidates without an enrolment certificate are eligible to complete AIBE 21 registration in addition to law graduates who have completed either a 3-year LLB or a 5-year LLB. The AIBE 21 2026 exam will have questions on basic legal concepts taught in the LLB courses. BCI revised the AIBE syllabus last year, with three new law topics being added, namely the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

The AIBE cut-offs for the general and OBC categories are 45 marks out of 100, and for SC/ST candidates, the cut-off marks are 40 out of 100. Candidates who clear the All India Bar Examination will be awarded a Certificate of Practice. The CoP is a mandatory certificate to practise law in India. Candidates registering for the All India Bar Exam without an enrolment certificate must submit it after publication of the AIBE result; otherwise, their result will be withheld. The Bar Council of India will issue the AIBE CoP to successful candidates by dispatching the certificate to the state bar council in which the candidate has enrolled.

    What is AIBE?

A standard test for law graduates, AIBE is a certificate-based examination conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI). BCI conducts the AIBE exam to test an advocate's ability to practice law in India. The AIBE exam tests the skills of law graduates at a fundamental level and sets the minimum benchmark for admission to the practice of law. Law graduates who want to appear for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) must also complete enrolment with the state bar council. The AIBE exam is only open to candidates who have completed either a 5-year LLB or a 3-year LLB degree. AIBE is conducted in 40 cities across the country, in 11 different languages. Passing the bar examination or AIBE is mandatory for law graduates in India to represent clients in a court of law.

What is New in AIBE 21 Exam?

The AIBE 21 eligibility criteria have been revised. Candidates who are in the final year of their law programme without any backlogs and candidates who do not have an enrolment certificate are eligible to register for the bar exam. Three new topics have also been added to the AIBE syllabus, namely Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. However, candidates without an enrolment certificate must submit the certificate after the exam; otherwise, their results will be withheld. Similarly, the AIBE result for final year law students will be provisional and they must clear their graduation exams.

AIBE 21 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The AIBE 21 syllabus consists of 19 subjects from different areas of law. There will be 100 multiple-choice questions covering the 19 subjects. Each question carries one mark. The total marks in AIBE is 100. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

    AIBE Certificate of Practice

Candidates who clear the AIBE are awarded a Certificate of Practice (CoP). The CoP is a mandatory certificate to practise law in India. Since AIBE is a qualifying exam, all candidates who clear the AIBE cut-off and pass the exam will be awarded a Certificate of Practice.

    AIBE 2026 Syllabus

AIBE All India Bar Examination Syllabus

Practising AIBE mock tests, or previous year papers is an important part of preparation. Candidates should solve all the AIBE last year question papers and sample papers to understand the test difficulty and type of questions asked in the examination.

The previous year papers of AIBE will also help the candidates in testing their level of preparation. The direct link to download the AIBE previous year papers is given below.
AIBE Sample Paper Store (All Previous Years Question Papers)

AIBE is conducted at the national level. The test is a mix of legal awareness and law. Therefore, candidates need to keep themselves updated with the current legal developments while also working on the fundamentals of law.

    • At this stage, you are more or less familiar with the AIBE exam pattern. But there is a twist in that books and textual material; bare acts are allowed through. So, the candidate now has to work for a plan where they are able to answer questions asked in the exam without having to consult a source. There is no doubt that one will have to work and depend on their memory power among other things to ace the exam this year.
    • Being conversant with the marking scheme, the structure of questions asked, weightage carried by various sections will help to get more out of one's preparation.
    • Don't go beyond the AIBE syllabus, because questions will be drafted from the official syllabus only.
    • Candidates are advised to start their preparation well in advance and not leave the syllabus for the last few days. Break down the syllabus in chunks, assign time for each block, and allot time as per the difficulty level of a topic.
    • Candidates must go through AIBE sample papers and practice them. They may also take mock tests to get an idea of the exam situation and how to deal with it. Solving sample papers is also an effective preparation strategy. This will mentally prepare the candidate for the exam and he/she will not be caught off-guard easily.
    • Complete the syllabus in a way that there is enough time for revision.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) releases the AIBE 21 provisional answer key a few days after the exam date. Candidates are allowed to submit objections regarding any discrepancies within the objection window. The BCI will review all valid objections and then publish the AIBE 21 final answer key, which will be used for preparing the AIBE XXI result.

How to download AIBE XXI 2026 answer key?

    • Visit the official website of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE)
    • Click on the answer key download link.
    • The candidate will be redirected to a page where the answer key will be displayed in downloadable PDF format.

How to raise objections against AIBE 21 Provisional Answer Key?

Candidates should fill out the objection form by entering the question numbers and objection details from the official link for the same. Given below are the steps to raise objections against the provisional answer key.

    • Select the paper code

    • The official answer as per BCI is automatically shown
    • Mention your answer
    • Put in remarks if any
    • Attach a file as supporting proof as your answer
    • Submit the objection form

The Bar Council of India will declare the AIBE 21 result tentatively 2-3 months after the exam.
