Amity University-Noida Law Admissions 2026
Among top 100 Universities Globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026
As the CLAT 2025 NLU admission process remains unclear, the National Law University, Delhi, which conducts its own separate All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for law admissions, has filled all BA LLB and LLM seats in the first two rounds of counselling. Last year, the NLU Delhi admission merit lists were announced in ten rounds. The AILET 2025 was conducted on December 08, a week after the CLAT exam.
NLU Delhi is among the top law universities in the country and competes with the other top national law universities (NLUs) that participate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Most students who participate in CLAT, also appear in AILET to keep the NLU Delhi option open if they fail to get the top 3-4 NLUs through CLAT.
However, with CLAT admission still in limbo, such students who might have secured top NLUs through this exam are now left with no option other than accepting NLU Delhi’s offer for admission.
In previous years, the NLU Delhi admissions were conducted till the fifth and sixth rounds of counselling. Last year, ten rounds of seat allotment were announced in AILET counselling. This is mainly due to the options made available by the CLAT counselling which runs almost parallel to the AILET counselling, in a time-bound manner. This year, while the CLAT counselling remains stuck in court cases, the AILET counselling has been held as per its schedule. Not accepting the seat in NLU Delhi means students have to wait for CLAT counselling which remains postponed indefinitely.
Another impact of delayed CLAT results can be seen in the SLAT counselling. The Symbiosis Law School, Pune has conducted the personal interview round and announced the merit list for the first round. Students who appeared in both CLAT and SLAT may now have to accept the SLS Pune due to the uncertainties in the NLU admission process.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has indicated in its previous hearing that all cases related to the CLAT exam should be transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The CLAT counselling and NLU admission process will start only after a decision is reached on the cases pending in different courts.
