The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) has started the CLAT 2026 registration on August 1, 2025. Interested and eligible candidates can fill the CLAT application form 2026 online for CLAT UG and CLAT PG by visiting the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The CLAT form 2026 is live at consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2026. The direct link to the CLAT form 2026 is given below. The last date to register for CLAT 2026 is October 31, 2025. The CLAT 2026 exam will be held on December 7, 2025 (Sunday) in a single shift from 2 pm to 4 pm. In this article, candidates will get detailed information on exam date, fee, direct link and how to fill the CLAT 2026 form.
To complete the CLAT registration 2026, candidates will have to register at the CLAT 2026 website by using their mobile number and email ID. Candidates must pay an application fee of Rs 4,000 for General and OBC candidates. Candidates from SC, ST, BPL and PwD categories are required to pay Rs 3,500. Through Common Law Admission Test, candidates will get admitted to 24 National Law Universities and more than 60 law schools across the country. The courses offered include 5-year LLB programmes such as BA LLB, BCom LLB, BSc LLB, and BBA LLB at the undergraduate level and one-year LLM at postgraduate level.

CLAT registration link is available at the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates wishing to appear for the CLAT 2026 exam can register on or before the CLAT registration 2026 last date.
The CLAT 2026 application has to be submitted online through the website -consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates need to create an account using their mobile number and email ID. Upon CLAT registration 2026, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for validation. Once the mobile number is validated, candidates can log in using the registered mobile number and the password provided at the time of registration. The application form can be filled in five steps: personal details, communication, educational qualification, exam centre preferences, and reservation details. The registration fee of CLAT 2026 can be paid online through Debit Card/ Credit Card or Net Banking. The CLAT 2026 application fees can be paid online only. The application fees of CLAT 2026 is non-refundable or non-adjustable. The CLAT 2026 application fee details are mentioned below.

Candidates will have to keep the following documents ready while filling out the CLAT 2026 application form:
Front-facing passport-size recent photograph with plain background
Signature of the candidate
Category certificate if you are applying under SC/ST/OBC
Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are applying under the PwD category
Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are applying under the BPL category
The original certificates/ documents issued by the competent authority as specified in the brochure are to be submitted to the allotted University in the form and manner as specified by the respective universities at the time of admission.
The photograph and signature of the candidate need not be attested while submitting the Online Application Form.
All documents/ certificates should be uploaded in PDF format only.

While NLUs are costly, you can still pursue government-funded law education through state-funded universities and their affiliated colleges that accept CLAT scores, such as institutes like Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University.

It is always better to take the CLAT exam right after Class 12 if your goal is to build a career in law, because CLAT UG is specifically designed for admission into integrated five-year law programs like BA LLB, BCom LLB, or BBA LLB. Appearing after Class 12 saves you time, as you complete both graduation and law together in a single course. On the other hand, if you first complete graduation and then plan for law, you will not be eligible for CLAT UG but instead for CLAT PG, which is meant for admission into LLM programs. This path takes longer, because you first spend three or four years on graduation and then add another three years in an LLB program if you choose not to go for an integrated course. So, if you are already sure about pursuing law as your career, writing CLAT right after Class 12 is the smarter and time-saving option, while writing it after graduation makes sense only if you are considering higher studies in law or a shift in career later.

Both the colleges Maharaja Agrasen (MAIMS) or Gitarattan (GIBS) are affiliated to IP University and allows admission either by CLAT or IPU CET Law. Without either of these exams, your admission is NOT accepted there. You can try looking for management quota seats in these colleges if you have got good marks in 12th class.
