AIBE FAQs: The law graduates who appear in the All India Bar Examination have a lot of queries regarding the exam. Candidates appear in the exam to receive the Certificate of Practice that allows qualified candidates to practice law in the courts in India. The AIBE is conducted to test the basic legal knowledge and analytical skills of law graduates. The exam is conducted to lay down minimum benchmark for practising law. Question: Why is AIBE conducted?

Answer. The All India Bar Exam is a certificate-based examination. The qualified candidates receive a Certificate of Practice (CoP) which allows them to practice law under various courts in India.

Question. Can someone practice law without appearing in the AIBE exam?

Answer. No, it is mandatory to clear the AIBE to practice law.

Question. How many times does the BCI conduct AIBE?

Answer. The All India Bar Examination is conducted twice a year.

Question. Can someone appear in the bar examination without a law degree?

Answer. No, the candidate must have a LLB degree to become eligible for the bar exam.

Question. If a candidate registers for the AIBE but fails to appear for the test, does she/he have to register for the next AIBE again?

Answer. Yes, if candidates register for the exam but do not take the test, they have to register for the next AIBE again.

Question. Is AIBE an open-book exam?

Answer. AIBE is not an open-book exam. However, candidates are allowed to carry bare acts without notes to take the exam.

Question. I graduated with a law degree in 2008, do I need to take the AIBE?

Answer. No, candidates who completed their law graduation before the academic year 2009-2010, do not need to clear the AIBE.

Question. What is the required age for taking AIBE?

Answer. There is no age limit for appearing in the AIBE 2024.

Question. What are the qualifying marks required to appear in the AIBE 2024?

Answer. Candidate must have a law degree. There are no qualifying marks required in the graduation to appear in the AIBE 2024.

Question. It's been more than 3 years since I registered with the State Bar Council, do I need to register again to appear in AIBE 2024?

Answer. Once the candidates enrol themselves with the State Bar Council as an advocate, they can take as many AIBE exams as required. However, according to a notification released by the BCI, the advocate who doesn’t clear AIBE within two years of enrollment with the State Bar Council will be barred from practising law.

Question. What is the education qualification required for AIBE 2024?

Answer. The candidate must have completed their 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB degree from a recognized university.

Question. If a candidate fails to clear the AIBE exam, can he/she appear for the exam again?

Answer. There are no limits to the number of attempts to take the AIBE. If a candidate is not able to clear the AIBE, he/she can take the exam again.

Question. When will BCI release the application form for AIBE XIX?

Answer. The BCI will release the application form tentatively in April. Candidates can visit the official website of BCI, barcouncilofindia.org. to fill out the form

Question. Do I have to fill out the OTP that I received during the registration process?

Answer. Yes, the candidates must mention both OTP that they receive on their registered mobile number and email address. The OTP will consist of only three digits.

Question. In how many languages is the AIBE exam conducted?

Answer. The AIBE is conducted in 11 languages. Candidates can choose their preferred language for the exam. The languages are English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Oriya.

Question. Can candidates choose their preferred exam centre for the AIBE XIX exam?

Answer. The exam is conducted in approximately 50 cities with 140 exam centres. While filling out the application form the candidates are asked to select three preferred exam centres. The exam centre will be allotted to candidates based on their preference and availability of seats.

Question. I am not able to receive OTP on my phone for AIBE registration, what should I do?

Answer. If a candidate is unable to receive the OTP for AIBE registration, then the candidate should try using a different phone number or restart the device.

Question. What is the duration of the All India Bar Examination?

Answer. The total duration of the AIBE is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Question. What are the passing marks for the AIBE exam?

Answer. Candidate should score at least 45% to clear the AIBE exam. For the SC and ST categories, the qualifying marks are 40%.

Question. What type of questions are asked in the AIBE exam?

Answer. In the AIBE exam, multiple-choice questions are asked.

Question. Is there any negative marking in the AIBE exam?

Answer. There is no provision for negative marking in the AIBE exam. A total of 100 questions are asked and each question carries one mark.

Question. Is carrying an admit card mandatory for the AIBE exam?

Question. Has anyone failed the AIBE exam?

Answer. Many students who appear in the AIBE exam fail to clear the test. However, such candidates can take the exam again as there is no limit on the number of attempts that a candidate can take.

Question. What happens after clearing AIBE?

Answer. After clearing the exam the qualified candidates receive the AIBE Certificate of Practice (CoP). According to the BCI, after receiving the CoP, candidates can practice law and attend court hearings in any tribunal courts and administrative bodies.

The BPP is typically required for those who do not have a formal educational qualification equivalent to 10+2.it has nothing to do with aibe exam because it conducted to assess basic level knowledge of law degree student and lay down minimum benchmark for entering into practice of law in addition to assessing candidate's analytical skills.

To take AIBE EXAM you need to do bachelor's degree in law either of five or three years course from a recognised university.if you done your graduation you can take admission in three years law course through direct entry or by giving law entrance exam like CLAT CUET ailet etc.
