Question - I appeared in AIBE XVI (16) 2021, can I also appear in AIBE XVII (17)?
Ans - Yes, you can AIBE XVI. If you haven't clear AIBE XV, then you will have to clear AIBE XVI. In case you have passed the AIBE XVI (16) 2021, there is no need to appear in the AIBE XVI (16).

Ans - Yes, if you want to appear in AIBE XVII (17) you will need to apply separately even if you have already applied for AIBE XVI(16).
Question - Is it mandatory to clear AIBE in order to practice law in any court of India?
Ans - Yes, to practice law in any court of India, it is absolutely mandatory to clear AIBE. However, if the candidate has completed the graduation in law prior to the academic year 2009-10, he/she need not appear in AIBE.

AIBE 2022 Frequently Asked Questions - On exam pattern
Question - What is the basic exam pattern of AIBE?
Ans - As per the AIBE exam pattern, the test will be conducted in offline mode, with 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will be given time duration of 3-hours 30mins to attempt the test paper. To check the complete details on exam patterns, visit AIBE exam pattern.
Question - Can I carry my study material to the exam centre of AIBE?
Ans - No, AIBE is a closed book exam, and candidates are not allowed to carry the study material inside the exam hall. Only Bare Acts without comments are permitted to be carried to the exam hall. Till AIBE XV (15), it was an open book test and candidates could carry the study material inside the exam hall.
Question - What is the minimum percentage of marks required to clear AIBE?
Ans - The candidates who score more than 40% will be declared qualified in AIBE. For SC and ST category candidates, the qualifying percentage is 35%. Candidates may check the details of AIBE cut off for more details.

Ans - No, there is no negative marking in AIBE.

Ans - Yes, BCI provides the study material to all the registered candidates. Most likely, the candidates can receive the preparatory material two weeks after completing the registration.

AIBE Faqs - On Result and Certification of Practice
Question - Where can I check my AIBE result 2022?
Ans - The result will be available on the official website of AIBE. you can check your AIBE result by logging into the candidate portal. More details on the result can be accessed from AIBE result.
Question - Will I get the result in the form of a scorecard or a percentile form?
Ans - None of these. The AIBE result is released in terms of “Pass” or “Fail” status. Scorecards are not displayed.
Question - When will I get the Certificate of Practice after clearing AIBE?
Ans - The AIBE Certificate of Practice is given soon after the declaration of the result. You will receive the COP at your communication address through postal service, within a few weeks.
Question - What should I do, if I am not getting the COP even after clearing the AIBE?
Ans - You can contact the Bar Council of India through the helpdesk provided on their official website. Till then, you can use the result as a provisional certificate.
Question - For Judicial services, is it mandatory to clear AIBE?
Ans - Judicial services are altogether different exams. It is not mandatory to clear AIBE for appearing in Judicial services. However, if the eligibility of Judicial services mandates that the candidate should be eligible for practising law in India, then the candidate may have to clear AIBE.

Before applying for the law certification exam, candidates should review the AIBE XVII (17) 2022 eligibility criteria.
Candidates applying for AIBE XVII (17) must have completed a 3-year or 5-year LLB program from a BCI-accredited institute.
Candidates must have completed their degree program after July 1, 2012.
Candidates applying for the AIBE XVII (17) 2022 exam must be members of their respective State Bar Councils and hold an Advocate Card.
There are no minimum marks or age requirements to take the AIBE XVII (17) examination.
Candidates must pass the AIBE examination within two years of completing their graduation. If a candidate is unable to pass the examination within two years of graduation, he or she must re-register/enroll with the state bar council in order to take the AIBE examination.

Yes, if you are registered with the state bar council, you can practice law before clearing AIBE . However, in such a case, you will have to clear AIBE within two years from the date of registration at the state bar council. Since you have mentioned that you have cleared LLB in 1996, then it is not compulsory for you to give AIBE.
In the State Bar Council Meeting, the Bar Council passed a resolution that the "Right to practice" exam, popularly known as AIBE, is no more mandatory for the lawyers registering themselves in any state of the country.
Furthermore, the eligibility criteria to give AIBE Exam is as mentioned below : Candidates should hold 3 years or 5 years LL. B. degree from a BCI recognized law school. One should note that there is no minimum percentage to qualify in the examination in order to register for the AIBE exam.
